Research at ICMUB

ICMUB’s activities revolve around two cross-disciplinary research areas, with metal chemistry, coordination chemistry and organometallic chemistry as the common thread. The unit has consequently chosen to structure its research into two departments, one dedicated to the environment, materials and energy (SEM), the other to health and medical imaging (ISI).

These two departments, comprising respectively two teams (CaPCoM and EMCAP) and three teams (SMol, RITM and IFTIM) are interconnected through common themes, in total coherence with the unit’s trajectory.

These 2 research departments are supported by major research support services (administration, development, IT, technical platforms, etc.).

The ISI department’s research focuses on the development of innovative tools for healthcare, molecular imaging and (radio)therapy, with the aim of connecting upstream research activities with clinical and healthcare issues.

The SEM department aims to develop clean, atom-efficient synthetic chemistry that minimizes waste and optimizes resources, in order to converge towards a common objective of environmental care and sustainable development.
