IT Assistance and Security – Information Management

The high research potential of ICMUB confers a strategic character to the protection of its scientific and technical heritage. Classified as ZRR, the security of information systems (ISS) is essential for the protection of its human resources, its tools and scientific data. The IT team ensures the supervision, management and production of all the IT resources of the institute.

The IT team performs the following tasks:

  • Exploitation of the System & Network infrastructure
    the management of its physical and virtual servers
    backup and availability of data
  • Support and advice to users and research teams
    advice and assistance to users management of the computer park consisting of about 300 workstations (1/3 MAC – 2/3 Windows)
  • Welcoming newcomers and guests (keys, magnetic cards, SSI awareness)
  • The loan management of equipment (video projector, octopus audio conference, …)

In addition, the team disseminates and supports users on the applications and service offerings (national and local) of their two supervisory bodies (uBE and CNRS).

The SSI committee:

An Information Systems Security Committee is responsible for supervising and guaranteeing the security of information systems. Its main mission is to define, implement and monitor policies and actions relating to information systems security, in order to protect the organisation’s data, infrastructure and IT resources against the risks of cyber-attacks, data leaks or other threats.

Here are some of the main functions of the SSI Committee :

  1. Risk assessment: Identify and analyze risks related to the security of information systems.
  2. Implementing security policies: Defining rules and best practices to ensure the security of data and infrastructure.
  3. Compliance monitoring: Verify that the organization complies with security standards and regulations (such as GDPR or ISO 27001).
  4. Training and awareness: Raise employee awareness of good security practices and organize cybersecurity training sessions.
  5. Incident Response: Organize and coordinate actions in the event of a cyber incident or security breach.
  6. Continuous Monitoring: Monitor systems to detect any vulnerabilities or suspicious activity.

In summary, the role of the ISS Committee is to ensure that the security of information systems is managed proactively and effectively, while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements regarding data security.
